The South House Story
Origin - vision - promise

A love of travel, generational heritage and a long list of what a good stay should feel like.
Craig and Jen have spent years on the road, long-haul flights, unfamiliar cities, more hotel rooms than either of them could count. Somewhere between the boardrooms and the baggage carousels, they started noticing the same thing over and over: the best stays were never just about the room. They were about the moments in between. A fire pit conversation with a stranger who became a friend, a shared drink at the bar after a long day, the simple relief of somewhere that felt like it wanted you there.
They also came to know the other side of travel, the quieter, lonelier side. The solo trip where dinner is eaten at the desk. The business stay where the only conversation is with reception. It stayed with them. So when the chance came to reimagine a stretch of coastline they'd fallen for completely, they built South House around a simple idea: no one should have to feel alone in a place this beautiful. That's why the fire pit is never really empty, why the pool bar is built for lingering, and why the function/guest lounge room exists as much for shared stories as for shared celebrations.
A coastline that's always been home
Alison didn't need to fall in love with Merimbula, she grew up in it. Her family's history here runs generations deep into the Sapphire Coast, long before "South House" or even South Seas was ever a name on a sign. She knows which headland catches the best light at 6am, where the locals actually eat, and what this place feels like in every season, not just the ones on the postcards. That knowledge - inherited, lived-in, unhurried, is stitched through every corner of South House, from the timber and stone to the quiet insistence on doing things properly rather than quickly.
Together
South House has become something more considered than a place to stay, South House is a love letter to the coast, a reflection of it's beauty built and run by people who understand both the traveller arriving for the first time and the town that's been home all along.
The result is the best place to stay on the Sapphire Coast, not because we say so, but because every space, every detail, and every welcome was built by people who genuinely couldn't imagine being anywhere else.
Welcome to South House. We saved you a seat by the fire.
