A love of travel, generations of hospitality, and a certain conviction of what a good stay should feel like

Our founders think like guests first, and hoteliers second.  Having been guests themselves more times than they can count, they knew what a good hotel should feel like - the kind of experience that makes you glad you've left the comforts of home, where there are peaceful rooms, and convivial gathering spaces.

With this innate knowledge, plus a deep love and connection to the Sapphire Coast, they took the much loved South Seas Motel and transformed it into South House Hotel - where every detail and design decision is a reflection of the history of this 70s icon, the beauty that is Merimbula, and the comfort of guests at the centre of everything they do.

A coastline that's always been home

Our founders are like the resident mix of the Sapphire Coast itself.  Some didn't need to fall in love with Merimbula, their history here runs generations deep, and others view sparkling Merimbula with fresh eyes.  Together they know which headland catches the best light at 6am, where the locals actually eat, and what this place feels like in every season.  Merimbula sparkles in the winter and spring, and glows with the beauty that is the Coast in summer and autumn, with a unique cosy coastal feeling that is distinctly Sapphire. That knowledge - be it inherited, or fresh - is stitched through every corner of South House.  From the stunning rooms to the communal fire places, there has been a quiet determination to create the very best place to stay on the Sapphire Coast.
