The South House Story

A love of travel, generational heritage and a long list of what a good stay should feel like.

Alison, Jen and Craig began this journey through one lens, and that is the guest lens.  Having been a guest themselves more times than they can count, they knew what a good hotel should feel like - the kind of experience they enjoyed and intimately understood as travellers what guests not just need in a hotel but expect.

With this innate knowledge plus a deep love and connection to the Sapphire Coast, they took a much loved motel and transformed it into South House Merimbula where every detail and design decision is a reflection of the beauty that is Merimbula and with the guest experience at the centre of every process.

A coastline that's always been home

They didn't need to fall in love with Merimbula, their history here runs generations deep into the Sapphire Coast. They know which headland catches the best light at 6am, where the locals actually eat, and what this place feels like in every season, not just the Summers and Springs, but the beauty that is the Coast in winter and autumn, with a unique cosy coastal vibe that is distinctly Sapphire. That knowledge - inherited, lived-in, unhurried, is stitched through every corner of South House, from the stunning rooms to the communal fire pit, with a quiet determination to produce the best place to stay and not just meet our guest expectations but to exceed.
